Through various rounds of source evaluation and interviews, Black IS Beautiful and Rattail Comb present two diagrams that apply information design principles to discuss the practices of Black hairstyling. Black IS Beautiful highlights the types of Black hairstyles, both historically and present day, dividing them into three distinct categories: Afro, Protective, and Braided & Twisted. Rattail Comb presents information about the rattail comb. This hairstyling tool has been passed down through generations of young Black people, resulting in various hairstyles now worn in a contemporary fashion.
