A look at a few typographical projects (in order - Braided, Hammers & Nails, A Collection of Tattered Narratives, Cafe of Love).

BRAIDED - Typeface Publication

BRAIDED is a two-part series that explores the connection between graphic design methodologies and traditional Black braiding techniques. Part 2 is a typeface publication that utilizes the self-created typeface “BRAIDED”, inspired by the rigidity of cornrows and patterns that are created through styling Black hair. The publication further emphasizes and illustrates what braids and the act of braiding mean to Black communities.

Cafe of Love

Cafe of Love is an experimental piece that uses several coffee selections to form the shape of a coffee mug.

Hammers & Nails

Hammers & Nails is an experimental project to create letterforms with unconventional tools and black ink. The tool selected for this piece is an Allen wrench.

A Collection of Tattered Narratives

This publication is a collection of writings prompted by Sonya Clark’s Tatter, Bristle, Mend exhibition at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
